Privacy policy.

How the Ontario Beekeepers’ Association collects, uses, protects, and provides access to personal information submitted through its websites.

1. Our privacy commitment

1.1 Statement of intent. The Ontario Beekeepers’ Association (OBA) respects and upholds an individual’s right to privacy and to protection of personal information.

This OBA Websites Privacy Policy is intended to comply with Canada’s federal privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, and applies to visitors to websites belonging to the OBA.

1.2 Personal information. Personal information is personally identifiable information such as your name, residential address, email address, information about services or products you acquire from the OBA, payment information, and billing records. The OBA collects personal information only when you knowingly provide it. Publicly available directory information is not considered personal information.

2. Collection and use

2.1 Browsing information. You may browse the website anonymously. Servers may automatically record statistical information such as IP address, visit time and duration, and pages visited. The OBA uses aggregate information to improve website content and does not link server logs to other data in a way intended to identify individual visitors.

2.2 Inquiries. When you submit an inquiry, the OBA may request information such as your name and email address so it can respond.

2.3 Purposes. Personal information may be used to communicate with you, provide requested information, deliver services, and provide information related to OBA services and activities.

2.4 Consent. Providing personal information constitutes consent for the OBA to collect, use, and disclose it for the purposes stated in this policy. You may withdraw consent to further collection, use, or disclosure by giving reasonable notice.

2.5 Disclosure and retention. Unless you authorize release, or release is permitted or required by law, the OBA will not sell, lease, or trade your personal information. Personal information is used only for the purposes for which it was collected, except with consent or as required by law, and retained only as long as necessary or legally required.

2.6 Accuracy. The OBA makes reasonable efforts to keep personal information accurate, complete, and current for the purposes for which it was collected. Please contact the OBA to request a correction.

3. Website matters

3.1 Cookies. Cookies are small files used to establish sessions, deliver appropriate content, and understand which pages are visited. Browser settings can refuse or report cookies, although disabling them may prevent some website features from working.

3.2 Security. The OBA uses reasonable security measures to protect information under its control. No method of transmitting or storing information online can guarantee perfect security.

3.3 External links. OBA websites may link to third-party websites. The OBA is not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

4. Accountability, access, and changes

4.2 Access. You may request access to personal information under the OBA’s control. Access may be refused only where permitted or required by applicable privacy legislation, including where information refers to another individual or cannot be disclosed for legal or security reasons.

4.3 Revisions. Privacy practices evolve with changes in technology and legal requirements. The OBA may revise this policy from time to time; please refer to the current version posted here.
